:S Btw, about sample question 2… is 2-times multiplication tables within the primary 1 syllabus already?? and that triangular thing looks so confusing that it took me quite a while to realize it is a 2-times multiplication table… i was thinking of some diagonal addition or subtraction pattern that they have to find…

Sample q3 is tough. I mean u must be really good in both English and Maths to fully grasp the question. I pity the next generation. Stress to the max.

Dear LZmommy, most school do not have continual assessments (CAs) as they embark on the SEED programme. However, exams are inevitable – so I schools have end year exams.
Yes, Hang’s school has end year exam.

Dear yl, Mmm…think that they must know multiplication. I get Hang to memorize the multiplication table. I have a set of cards and some resources to help with multiplication. Let me know if you want them.

I don’t agreed with the answer for Sample Q2. The answer should be 18 instead (the number direct under 10).
The first row 2,4,8,(i.e. 1×2, 2×2, 4×2,8×2 – new line)
4+2 = 6
8+2 = 10
Hence, 16+2 should be 18. Right?

That’s y a friend who owns a student center kept telling us b4 going to P1, the child must ‘ve very gd command of Eng. Yet, some mums said their kids didnt know how to read when entering P1 but still can cope. Very confusing. My kids arent in pri. yet but I’ve attended talks and roughly know Math quest. The head of the Math dpt in MOE explained that they want to teach the children to think via math. I feel that it’s very difficult for us parents to ans. cuz our time, our math quest. were very str. fwd. In a way, I feel that it’s great that they r teaching the kids to think analytically but frustrated that we cant help them.Even Sci. in P3, very different our time. We ‘ve to really go read up I heard.
